Tulane University is giving undergraduates the option of finishing the current semester online. It comes as several cases of the Omicron coronavirus strain has been detected on campus.
The university said only mild symptoms have been reported, and the decision to offer the virtual option was made primarily to ease the transition into winter break.
"If this uptick had occurred mid-semester, we would likely not be suggesting any change in practice or policy," says a note to faculty and students obtained by The Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate.
Tulane recently re-instated a campus-wide mask mandate.
