Tulane Green Wave quarterback TJ Finley says he was the victim of a Facebook Marketplace scam that led to his arrest this week on possession of stolen property charges, our partners at NOLA.com report.

Tulane police arrested Finley Wednesday. The campus cops had responded to a complaint of a pickup truck blocking a driveway in the 6300 block of S. Claiborne Ave. and discovered the vehicle had been reported stolen.

Finley, a Ponchatoula native and transfer from Western Kentucky University, said he had recently bought the truck in Atlanta. His attorneys say Finley was presented with an apparently clean bill of sale and registration, giving the athlete "every reason to believe the purchase was legitimate."

Finley's lawyers say he is cooperating with investigators "in hopes of recovering the funds he lost, bringing the criminal(s) to justice, and clearing his name and reputation."

Meanwhile, the quarterback is on suspension from the Green Wave football team while the investigation continues.
