Tulane University is bussing students to Houston so they can catch flights to their homes.
The university is closing the uptown campus and canceling in-class instruction through September 12.
Online classes will commence September 13th through October 6 with in-class instruction resuming October 11th.
The university has decided to evacuate both graduate and undergraduate students whether they live on campus or off campus today.
Students are advised to bring just two pieces of luggage along with their computers and valuables.
Tulane says they’ve established a hub in Houston to provide food and lodging at the university’s expense for student to stay until they can get a flight home.
According to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate the operation commences a day after Hurricane Ida ripped through the region and destroyed New Orleans electrical infrastructure.
