Two alarms sounded after Midtown Hotel catches fire

Guests at a Tulane Avenue motel are seeking a new place to stay after a two-alarm fire at that facility Saturday night.

According to a New Orleans Fire Department spokesperson, the blaze began around 7 p.m. at the New Orleans Midtown Hotel. Investigators say the fire at the three-story, 102-room motel began in an unoccupied first-floor room. The fire then spread to other rooms on the first floor via the motel’s HVAC system. Firefighters who responded after the second alarm was sounded prevented the fire from spreading to the second and third floors of the building.

Officials say the motel’s guests had been evacuated and that nobody was injured.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
