The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office has arrested two Slidell men and is looking for a third suspect in connection with the murder of a 20-year-old Pearl River man.

According to the sheriff’s office, on Friday, May 21, at about 11:00 p.m. deputies were called to the 73000 block of Mike Talley Road near Pearl River regarding a person who had been shot.

The victim, later identified as 20-year-old Nicholas Livingston, was pronounced dead on the scene by EMS.

Through the investigation, detectives say on the day of the shooting a large party took place at the address on Talley Road. As the party was breaking up an altercation broke out and shots were fired according to the sheriff’s office.

Detectives say as Amarjaye Thomas, Jawaun Gaines, and Malike Batiste, were leaving the party they fired upon a crowd of people, and Livingston was struck by a bullet.

Warrants were issued for the arrest of Thomas, Gaines, and Batiste on one count each of Second-Degree Murder.

Thomas and Gaines were picked up at their Slidell-area residences early this morning.

Batiste is still wanted. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contacted the St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 898-2338.

“Shootings like this will not be tolerated in St. Tammany Parish,” Sheriff Randy Smith said. “I am proud of our detectives who worked hard on this case to identify the individuals responsible, and I hope these arrests help to bring closure to the family of the victim and the community so they may begin to heal.”
