St. Tammany authorities say a pair of people died in a Sunday house fire in the village of Sun, Louisiana.
"Fire District 9 was dispatched to a possible structure fire," Authorities posted. "Upon arrival, we found a completely involved house fire."
Dispatchers said the person who called indicated two people were trapped inside the house.
"Unfortunately, the two occupants were unable to extricate themselves and succumbed to the fire."
The Louisiana Fire Marshal's office says the victims are a 76-year-old man and a 56-year-old man.
Firefighters say the area where the fire ignited was remote.
"Being in the rural area of our parish, sometimes a fire is not noticed until it has become a very large fire, and that was the case here."
Police are investigating too.
"The cause of the fire and the causes of death have not yet been determined," St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Suzanne Carboni said. "Detectives with the STPSO Major Crime Unit are working in conjunction with Fire District 9 and the Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office."
