Two people are dead after a boat crash on the Tickfaw River.
Agents from the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries received a call just after midnight Sunday morning about two boats colliding in the river near Kings Point. When agents arrived, they found a capsized Sea Fox boat and a pontoon boat that had suffered major damage.
A 27-year-old woman was trapped under the capsized boat. Despite the efforts of a good Samaritan who pulled the woman from the water and attempted CPR, that woman died at a hospital.
On Sunday afternoon, divers found the body of a 36-year-old man who went missing after the crash. Authorities say that man was the pontoon boat's operator.
Six other people, three from the Sea Fox and three from the pontoon boat, were taken to the hospital with injuries that authorities say are not life threatening.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
