As New Orleans Police Chief Shaun Ferguson announced yesterday the arrest of four teens wanted in a fatal carjacking in Mid-City, two more carjackings happened across the city.
In New Orleans East at about 1:54 p.m. a 53-year-old woman was carjacked by a man at Charmes Court and Lourdes Street.
The man approached the woman’s vehicle and demanded that she exit. The victim complied and the man fled in the woman’s red 2017 Mazda MX5 with a temporary tag.
Then later, at about 4:45 p.m., police say a 65-year-old man was carjacked by two unknown men in Central City.
According to police, armed suspects approached the man at the corner of Clara Street and 1st Street and demanded the man’s vehicle and cash at gunpoint. The victim complied and the suspects fled in the victim’s gray 2002 Dodge Ram.
Police also say there was an attempted carjacking in the 13700 block Explorers Avenue where two female suspects and a male suspect demanded the victim hand over his keys but he refused and the suspects fled the scene.
This all happened as the NOPD police chief and district attorney focus on holding accountable individuals who commit such violent crimes.
