The New Orleans Police Department is working two carjackings less than a half hour apart, which they say were committed by two women.
Authorities did not say if the same two women committed the two carjackings.
The first carjacking incident happened at 7:36 p.m. on Wednesday in the 5900 block of Constance Street.
A police report says the 25-year-old male victim was outside his vehicle when he was approached by a dark-colored SUV.
That is when police say two women jumped out of the SUV, pointed a gun at the man, and demanded his car keys. The victim complied and the women attempted to flee in the man’s car, however, were unsuccessful.
They then got back in to their SUV and fled the scene.
Minutes later, at about 8:01 p.m. another carjacking happened just blocks away in the 2400 block of Jena Street.
Police say in this incident, two women attempted to carjack a 41-year-old woman.
One of the female suspects approached the woman, who was in her vehicle, and told her to open the door.
The victim attempted to drive away when she tells police she heard two gunshots as the suspects fled the scene. The victim sustained a graze wound to the arm and was transported to hospital by EMS. Her condition is unknown. Police are searching for the suspects.
