The Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is investigating the fatal shooting of a juvenile male.
It happened around 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in an apartment in the 1200 block of Lake Avenue.
"Deputies quickly found that the decedent had been shot once in the chest," said Capt. Jason Rivarde, spokesman for JPSO. "He was treated on scene, but succumbed to his injuries."
Rivarde said detectives learned from multiple other juveniles who were inside the apartment when it happened that the boy who died was trying to rob another youngster, and was shot as the two fought over the gun.
