The St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office gives an update on a 5-year-old boy shot in the head on Saturday.
The Sheriff’s Office says last Saturday deputies were called to a home in the 300 block of Mockingbird Lane in St. Rose. When deputies and EMS arrived they found the boy with a gunshot wound to the head.
An Ochsner Flight Care helicopter airlifted the boy to University Medical Center in New Orleans where he later died from his injury.
“Detectives are unsure of the exact circumstances that led to the shooting but are utilizing all available resources to investigate this incident in order to determine what actually occurred,” the sheriff’s office said in a press release. “A family member was at the residence when the incident occurred and is cooperating with the investigation.”
An adult relative was in the home at the time of the incident and is cooperating with the investigation.
