Residents of St Tammany Parish can celebrate the announcement of a new business neighbor in the area. Construction on the new facility is underway and it is slated to bring about one hundred new jobs.
St. Tammany Parish President Mike Cooper says the new Agile Cold Storage facility that broke ground yesterday is making a major investment in the parish and in its future.
“It’s about a forty-five-million-dollar project with approx. one hundred fifty thousand square foot facility.”
Cooper says the project fits nicely with the Rooms-To-Go and Associated Wholesale Grocers distribution centers nearby.
The facility will be located near the I-10-12-59 merge and will occupy about ten acres of land. And, this was the right time, and the Northshore was the right place for such a venture.
Pearl River invested in making this land attractive to businesses. Parish President Cooper says “They put in the infrastructure, roadways, and utilities.”
The cold storage will transport about one hundred trailers of food exports to the Port of New Orleans per day. The one hundred jobs that will be created will have a median annual income of about fifty-thousand dollars.
