In a local Mardi Gras tradition, New Orleans Mayor LaToya Cantrell and NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson brought Mardi Gras 2022 to an official end with a sweep down Bourbon Street.
At the stroke of midnight on Fat Tuesday, mayor Cantrell, and Chief Ferguson surrounded themselves with the men and women of the NOPD and Louisiana State Police as they walked their way down Bourbon Street, dispersing the large crowds of Carnival revelers, marking the end of Carnival.
However, for the thousands of visitors and residents still in the mood for revelry, the party continued elsewhere across the city long into the early hours of the morning.
