People keep panic buying water in the New Orleans area as the drought and dredging have let saltwater from the Gulf of Mexico push up the Mississippi River.
Officials have been trying to convince people to calm down, but the hoarding continues with shoppers filling beds of pickups and the back of SUVs with case after case.
One listener texted WWL and said, "I work at a grocery store in Slidell. Sold out on pallets of water on Saturday."
That, despite the fact that the Northshore will not be impacted.

The US Army Corps of Engineers says the salt water wedge is not expected to impact Belle Chasse until October 13th. The water intake for St. Bernard could be impacted on October 19th, Algiers on October 22nd, Gretna October 24th, the rest of West Jefferson October 26th, the eastbank of Orleans Parish October 28th and East Jefferson October 29th.
Col. Cullen Jones with the Army Corps of Engineers says they are also bringing in millions of gallons of fresh water to dilute the salt water that does get into filtration plants to further decrease the threat of the drinking water supplies being compromised.
