Crews are trying to get water flowing again to much of Lafourche Parish after a big water line busted.
"The Lafourche Parish Water District is continuing to work on a mainline water leak near the South Treatment Plant," Lafourche Parish Water Dist. No. 1 General Manager Wayne Gautreaux said in a news release.
He said this morning, they still do not have a timeframe for when the repairs will be complete.
"When water service is re-established, all customers between the Hwy 654 Bridge (Gheens Bridge) and the Lafourche-Jefferson parish line will be on a Boil Water Advisory and should avoid non-essential water use until further notice."
The Lafourche Parish School District closed several campuses.
"Due to water related challenges Central Lafourche High School, Career Magnet Center, all Lockport, and all South Lafourche area schools will be closed today January 26th, 2024."
