NOPD is increasing its presence in the French Quarter and CBD this weekend, with Baton Rouge rapper NBA Youngboy set to perform two nights at the Smoothie King Center.
There have been reports of violence at other shows on the tour. Atlanta canceled an NBA Youngboy performance set for tomorrow.
"That is why we have a more robust package for this than just the usual officers working the Superdome and/or any other event," said New Orleans Police Deputy Superintendent Hans Ganthier.
Ganthier also urged concert attendees to leave their weapons at home.
"People that are coming to the concert, people that are going to be trying to enjoy our city: leave your guns at home," he said. "Not only that, you can't bring them (into the concert) with you, so that means you're going to leave them in your car, and then if you do that, you become a victim of a car burglary, where your gun will be missing, and we're trying to avoid that."
NBA Youngboy is set to perform at the Smoothie King Center on Sunday and Monday nights.
