The Westbank Expressway reopened way ahead of schedule at the General De Gaulle overpass.
The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development said traffic traveling toward the Westbank over the Crescent City Connection would be diverted to either General De Gaulle Drive or Terry Parkway until Monday morning. It reopened Sunday afternoon.
Crews were working on leveling the approach to the Westbank Expressway from the bridge.
Westbank-bound motorists were strongly encouraged to use the Huey Long Bridge as an alternate.
The DoTD offered these alternates:
• Motorists are strongly encouraged to use the Huey P. Long Bridge to access the Westbank.
• Exit 9B (Gen. De Gaulle Drive) and Exit 9A (Terry Parkway/ Frontage Road) will remain open.
• Motorists can also use the Terry Parkway, Frontage Road Exit (Exit 9A) to access Gen De Gaulle Drive east and the ground level Westbank Expressway.
