Visitors looking to rent an Airbnb in New Orleans for this New Year’s Eve could face restrictions aimed at curbing disruptive NYE house parties.
In November, the short-term rental company announced policy changes to crack down on visitors renting homes and hosting wild parties on New Year’s Eve.
The policy change is nationwide and effects cities such as New Orleans.
Here are the policy restrictions you need to know before renting a short-term rental in New Orleans for New Year’s Eve:
· For one-night reservations – Guests without a history of positive reviews on Airbnb are prohibited from making one-night reservations in entire home listings.
· For two-night reservations – As NYE approaches, we will begin deploying more stringent restrictions on two-night reservations that may pose a heightened risk for disruptive parties. For example, we are leveraging and amplifying our technology that restricts certain local and last-minute bookings by guests without a history of positive reviews on Airbnb.
Airbnb says guests who have a history of positive reviews on Airbnb are not subject to these restrictions.
“We are publicly communicating this initiative to help support our New Orleans Hosts and send a message to would-be partiers that we won’t tolerate that type of behavior on our platform,” said a spokesperson for Airbnb.
For guests without a history of positive reviews, the company says the restrictions will kick in for certain reservations that the company deems a heightened risk for unauthorized parties, focusing on local reservations.
“We believe this will bolster our efforts to support the New Orleans community over New Year’s Eve weekend.”
