The National Weather service is advising people in northern St. Tammany and Tangipahoa Parish, along with those west of I-55 to get ready for winter weather starting Sunday.

"Winter Storm Watch has been issued for Sunday 12AM-6PM. Areas within the watch area could see ice accumulations leading to hazardous road conditions and localized power outages," the NWS posted.

Forecasters, however, say they still don't have a solid handle on where ice my become an issue.

"Uncertainty remains high in the watch area. A few degrees will be the difference between cold rain & icy roads."

The Weather Service says they fell better, though, that Orleans, Jefferson, St. Charles, St. Bernard and Plaquemines Parish are not likely to see any ice.

"Confidence is increasing outside the watch area that all precipitation falling will be in the form of rain, especially for the Southshore. Stay tuned for updates."
