A domestic disturbance ends with a woman killed in a shootout involving the Harahan Police Department.
According to a Harahan Police Department press release, it happened Sunday at about 6:23 p.m. in the 100 block of Haroleans Street in Harahan.
The police report says when officers arrived on the scene they found a man pointing a gun at a woman’s head. They say both the suspect and police officers fired their weapons.
Both the male suspect and the female victim were transported to University Medical Center for treatment. The man’s condition is unknown at this time. No police officers were injured in the shootout.
The Jefferson Parish coroner has confirmed the woman later died at the hospital from her injuries. The coroner has not released the woman’s identity. An autopsy is scheduled for Tuesday. The coroner’s office is working to determine whose bullet or bullets killed the woman.
