Cops say a woman leaving a party crashed a motorcycle into a tree and died Saturday night.
"The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office is investigating a fatal crash which occurred Saturday (July 30) evening near Covington," St. Tammany Parish Sheriff's Sergeant Carli Messina said in a news release. "Shortly before 6:45 PM, a 27-year old Covington woman left a social gathering in the 1500 block of Tchefuncte Drive near Covington."
She was riding a 2007 Honda CRF-70F.
"For reasons unknown at this time, she left the roadway and crashed into a tree, approximately less than a quarter of a mile down the road from the gathering. She was transported to a local area hospital where she died from her injuries."
Messina says the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
“Our hearts and prayers are with her family during this devastating time.” Sheriff Randy Smith said.
The investigation continues.
