NOPD is investigating a homicide that occurred early Sunday evening off Morrison Road and Martin Drive in the Seventh District.
Just after 5:30pm, Seventh District officers were called to the location for a vehicle accident with injury.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman suffering with a gunshot wound(s) in her car.
The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.
The initial investigation has revealed that the victim was driving eastbound on Morrison Road when she was approached by an armed suspect and struck by gunfire.
It is believed the victim drove away and crashed into another vehicle in near the intersection of Morrison and Cove Drive before coming to a stop further down the street.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.
