Cops are looking for clues after finding a dead woman on I-10 over Lake Pontchartrain.

"St. Tammany Parish Coroner Dr. Christopher Tape and his staff are investigating the mysterious death of a young woman killed in an apparent hit-and-run on the Twin Spans," Spokesman James Hartman said in a news release.

It happened shortly after 2:00am on Tuesday, October 21st.

"Louisiana State Police responded to a report of a body in the highway."

The coroner identified the dead woman as Edashia Emonni Caraway.

Today would have been her 27th birthday.

She is from Appleton, Wisconsin and was staying at a New Orleans hotel.

Tape says she came to New Orleans to celebrate her birthday and go to the NBA YoungBoy concert.

It is not clear how she ended up on the I-10 Twin Spans, but it is clear she was hit by a vehicle.

"Caraway perished of multiple blunt force injuries due to vehicle-vs.-pedestrian impact. The manner of death is homicide from a hit-and-run."

State Police are investigating.

The coroner has also called in a sexual assault nurse examiner to collect evidence from the body.
