Looking to purchase a cell phone she saw advertised on Facebook Marketplace, a Mississippi woman was instead allegedly shot and killed by the seller when she drove to Louisiana to make the exchange.

Daniel Tenner, 20, was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder and armed robbery in the death of Morgan Tyrone, 24, as well as two additional counts of attempted first-degree murder, according to Capt. Jason Rivarde of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office.

Investigators say Tenner told Tyrone to meet up in the 300 block of Friedrichs Road in Terrytown, La., on April 10. Tenner then allegedly shot Tyrone in the back of the head, then pointed his weapon at an unidentified 22-year-old woman who had made the drive with Tyrone along with her toddler son.

The woman told police they begged Tenner not to shoot, pointing to the presence of the young child, but that he ignored their pleas and took the $300 that was supposed to be used to purchase the cell phone and ran off after shooting Tyrone, according to the police report.

The woman then managed to get help from a passer-by who then called police. She and her son were left uninjured.

It was not made immediately known how police identified Tenner as the perpetrator. He is being held without bond.
