UPDATE: NOPD now says there is no evidence to support earlier reports of a victim shot Sunday morning in the French Quarter.
"Investigators have yet to locate a victim in this incident. Additionally, no subjects possibly connected to this incident have been located at any nearby hospital," according to an email to local media.
Earlier in the day Public Information Officer Aaron Looney said, "Initial reports indicate a female victim who was transported from the scene via private conveyance prior to police arrival."

New Orleans Police detectives are investigating a shooting in the French Quarter.
It happened around 6 a.m. this morning, near the intersection of Burgundy and Toulouse streets.
"Initial reports indicate a female victim who was transported from the scene via private conveyance," a police spokesman said in the notification to local news media.
No further information was immediately available.
