The woman who went missing while jet-skiing on the Tchfuncte River, has died from her injuries at a local hospital.
Family members confirmed Wednesday morning that 26-year-old Laura Thomas has died.
“Laura is leaving us peacefully. She’s fought so hard but the injuries are too much for her to survive. We don’t want her to suffer any longer so we’re saying our goodbyes,” family member Taylor Thomas said in a Facebook post.
Investigators believe she had a mishap on a personal watercraft. She was found Saturday morning.
The STPSO Operations Division, La Dept. of Wildlife and Fisheries as well as the U.S. Coast Guard searched the Northern Tchefuncte River near Covington when she was found after being in the water for hours.
