After teasing drivers with the possibility that the I-10 West on-ramp from S. Carrollton Ave. would reopen as early as Friday afternoon, the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says it will instead happen on Monday, June 9.
"After reviewing the in-place shoring, the tow truck company scheduled to remove the trash truck has requested that the procedure be rescheduled for Monday to allow for additional equipment to be in place," DoTD announce in a news release.
The agency says this will better ensure safety for workers and the public.

Louisiana highway officials announced Thursday that the I-10 on-ramp from South Carrollton Ave. should reopen sooner than anticipated.
"Contractors from Boh Bros. are completing the shoring of the I-10 on-ramps for the removal of the garbage truck," the Department of Transportation and Development said. "DOTD now estimates that the trash truck will be removed tomorrow morning, Friday, June 6."
Since it crashed May 19, the truck has been wedged into support beams of the Airline Hwy. exit from I-10 west that passes above the on-ramp.
Because of damage to those supports, the Airline exit from I-10 will remain closed for the time being.
