It's a big weekend for the New Orleans area with some major events happening downtown and in Jefferson Parish.
In New Orleans, it's the first-ever X Games Championships,. featuring the top athletes in extreme sports like BMX, skateboard, freestyle scooter and more.
"It'll be a great crowd, a new crowd," said MaryBeth Romig with New Orleans & Company.
Romig says it's an honor that the X Games picked New Orleans for it's inaugural championship games.
"We're a city that, really, like we like to say, is built to host all kinds of events," Romig said. "I think our reputation continues to gain ground for sporting events and the Sports Foundation does great work in touting that."
And down in Grand Isle, Mayor David Camardelle says they expect some good fishing at the International Tarpon Rodeo.
"It's unbelievable, the crabs that the kid were catching, and the fish, the trout and the redfish, Camardelle said. "Bring your kids, your grandkids, people love it, especially the kids."
