It's the penultimate day of the carnival season -- Lundi Gras! Before parades roll in New Orleans tonight, there are Lundi Gras celebrations on the riverfronts of both Kenner and New Orleans.

Starting at 10:00 a.m., it's the 28th Zulu Lundi Gras party, returning to Woldenberg Park.

"The event, I believe, stands as a testament to what the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club is really about," said Elroy James, president of the Zulu Social Aid and Pleasure Club.

"I'm proud to say that our Lundi Gras festival will feature our local, own restauraters," said James. "So I'm gonna ask all our locals and visitors to come out and support New Orleans as we bring back our Lundi Gras festival."

The Zulu king and queen arrive at Woldenberg Park at 5:00 p.m.

The royal court of Zulu will be busy today, as they also have their annual meeting with the court of Argus at 11:00 a.m. in Kenner's Rivertown.

"The party is free and open to the public," said Kenner Mayor Ben Zahn. "Local favorites Topcats will perform live, and there will be plenty of food and crafts from local restaurants and vendors."

Rex arrives at Spanish Plaza next to the Outlet Collection at the Riverwalk at 6:00 p.m., with a fireworks show following his proclamation.

Gretna celebrates Lundi Gras today with Lundi Gras in Gretna at the Market from 6:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Chicken on the Bone will perform at Huey Long Ave. between 3rd and 4th Streets.
