VIDEO: 1 dead and 1 in custody after Biloxi casino incident

After a man began shooting a pistol inside the Golden Nugget Casino Biloxi, Miss., early Saturday morning one was left dead and another was arrested.

Biloxi Police Department officers arrived at the scene, 151 Beach Blvd., at 12:34 a.m. Saturday upon receiving multiple 911 calls. Callers indicated that one man was shot and that the suspect, identified as 30-year-old Jereme Jones of Mobile, Ala., had run away from the scene on foot.

Police from other nearby jurisdictions also responded.

Officers located a man who appeared to have suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Although emergency first aid was provided to the victim, he was declared deceased at the scene by 12:56 a.m. He was identified as a 41-year-old Black male from Gulfport, Miss.

According to police, an initial investigation that Jones and the victim were involved in a physical altercation outside the casino when the victim ran inside, followed by Jones. There, Jones allegedly “fired multiple close-range shots at the victim on the gaming floor.”

No others were injured during the incident, said police.
They said it is currently unknown if the two men knew each other or what led to the physical altercation.

Jones has been charged with 1st Degree Murder and was transported to the Harrison County Adult Detention Center with a $1 million bond imposed by Harrison County Justice Court Judge Albert Fountain.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
