DFW is full of great people doing incredible things. All throughout the metroplex there are people to look up to and follow, and now a new one has been added to this list. While usually years of wisdom leads to that position, this time it’s an 11-year-old inspiring others in North Texas. Mansfield’s own Orion Jean was recently named TIME’s Kid of the Year after helping to collect 10,000 meals for families in need.
Earlier this week, TIME Magazine revealed their second annual Kid of the Year award recipient. This year’s award went to Orion Jean who gained national attention thanks to the mission he had been on since 2020. According to WFAA, The 11-year-old not only helped collect 10,000 meals for families in need all across North Texas, but he also collected and helped deliver books for 500,000 kids across the country.

"So many people have great ideas, but never act on them. I think it’s all about really caring about the issues that you’re seeing. Someone told me that you have to find something that breaks your heart for you to really get out there and make a difference in that area," said Jean. Hopefully Jean continues to do great things as he grows up in the metroplex.
