On Sunday, the U.S. Marshals and Ohio police announced the arrest of three men who are believed to be connected to a fatal beating of a 17-year-old outside of Lebron James' I Promise School.
Ethan Liming was found dead outside of the Ohio school earlier this month, and now authorities have arrested three people they believe were involved, according to a U.S. Marshals Service statement.
Deshaw Stafford Jr., 20, Tyler Stafford, 19, and Donovon Jones, 21, were all arrested on Saturday morning at two different residences in Akron, Ohio, the statement said.
Liming died on June 2 after a fight in the I Promise School's parking lot. Police have called it a "senseless act of violence."
On the night of his death, police were called to the school at around 10:45 p.m. for a reported fight between Liming, his friends, and another group.
Police added that Liming and his group were allegedly using a toy water gun to shoot people from their car.
After arriving at the scene, police found Liming unresponsive on the ground, where he was later pronounced dead, according to Akron Police Chief Stephen Myeltt.
An autopsy later found that Liming's cause of death was a blunt force head injury, and his death has been ruled a homicide, according to the Summit County Medical Examiner's Office.
There has been no further information on the arrest, or if the U.S. Marshal's $30,000 reward for information leading to an arrest, made available at this time, but Mylett did share in a statement that the community has stepped up to assist law enforcement.
"We thank the members of the community for their outpouring of support that helped investigators throughout this investigation," Mylett said. "We will continue to follow any leads that will result in bringing those responsible for Ethan's death to justice."
