A suspected bank robber is behind bars in Delaware after he was caught depositing the cash he had allegedly just stolen back into the bank's ATM.
Police say 44-year-old McRoberts Williams, of California, was taken into custody shortly after the incident, which happened December 11 in Wilmington, Delaware.
According to police, Williams walked into a Wells Fargo bank and handed the teller a note saying this was a robbery. The teller compiled and handed over an undisclosed amount of cash.
Williams ran out of the bank and once outside, he "made a deposit in the ATM on the exterior of the building," according to police.
As police responded to the bank, Williams took off running behind the shopping center. A short time later, he was located by troopers and taken into custody without incident.
Williams was arraigned on a charge of second-degree robbery and jailed on a $6,000 cash bond.
