With COVID restrictions starting to lift across the country, a sense of normalcy emerged in Nashville when the famed Bluebird Cafe reopened its doors. On Friday, like the pandemic had never happened, there was a line wrapped around the sidewalk at The Bluebird Café with eager music lovers hoping to get in for the first time in 16 months.

The cafe has had a number of famous artists perform there over the years, including Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.

People from across the nation came to the iconic Nashville club at the chance that they would be able to get in on Friday night.

"We're kind of waiting, hoping to get in," Kara O'Neal, visiting from California, said to WSMV. "We're totally going to do it because of the fact this is The Bluebird Café. we traveled all this way to get here."

The cafe announced they would be opening their doors with restrictions easing before last Friday. Now, over 500 days later, music fans were able to experience a piece of iconic Nashville.

Some took to social media sharing their memories from the music venue.

Local songwriter Adam Conner shared that the night was emotional prior to the shows. "It will be that's why I'm wearing sunglasses," Conner laughed.

Bluebird's general manager Erica Wallom Nichols shared before Friday that it was "a mixture of terror and excitement."

"I thank everybody for loving the music in our town and for supporting all of us," Wallom Nichols said. "We're back."

Now with more and more restrictions lifting daily, the music scene will look to make a return to normalcy.
