Candy corn already divides consumers, with some calling it a classic and others thinking it sickeningly sweet.
Chicago-based Brach’s Candy has unleashed a seasonal new twist on the tri-colored staple that could intensify the debate.
The Tailgate mix sold at Walgreen stores through October contains Fruit Punch, Vanilla Ice Cream, Hot Dog, Hamburger and Popcorn flavors.
Brach’s suggests this is a summer- and fall-oriented blend that is meant to put candy corn back in the spotlight before its traditional window of Halloween.
"The Tailgate Candy Corn flavor profile lends itself to an early-fall timeframe, perfect for football season, but with flavors like Hot Dog and Vanilla Ice Cream, why not bring them out at your next summer BBQ?!" Brach's said in a Food & Wine story this week about the Tailgate mix.
An 11-ounce bag of the new flavors will retail for under $4.
