In St. Petersburg, Florida, a homeless woman was attacked and injured by an alligator after she fell into a canal on Monday, according to authorities.

St. Petersburg Fire and Rescue responded to a call of a female yelling for help in the water near a canal, the department said in a press release.
The woman, said to be in her late 50s, was reportedly resting against a wall when she fell into the canal. Once in the water, she was attacked by the gator, which was captured and measured at 11 feet long.
The woman was removed from the canal via a rescue basket and taken to the hospital, where she was treated for the injuries suffered to her arms, the press release said. She is currently in stable condition.
The gator was reportedly captured and euthanized, ABC News reported.
