A Democratic congressman is supporting Republicans who want to censure a lawmaker they claim has been openly brazen with false claims about Israeli aggression.

A resolution to censure Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) was introduced Tuesday by Georgia Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene for what she called "antisemitic activity" and "sympathizing with terrorist organizations."

The action came after Tlaib called for an "independent investigation" of the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital bombing in Gaza, which left dozens dead and even more injured. Although multiple intelligence agencies have said the explosion was caused by a misfired rocket from an Islamic Jihad group that was supporting Hamas, Tlaib has questioned if Israel was actually responsible for the blast as Hamas has suggested.

"Media outlets and third-party analysts have raised doubts about claims and evidence offered by both Israel and the Gaza Ministry of Health, and I agree with the United Nations that an independent investigation is necessary," Tlaib said in a statement. "I cannot uncritically accept Israel's denials of responsibility as fact."

Tlaib said both the United States and Israel "have long, documented histories of misleading the public about wars and war crimes," and the governments "cannot clear themselves of responsibility without an independent international investigation."

In her resolution, Greene also accused Tlaib of leading "an insurrection" at the U.S. Capitol Complex on Oct. 18 during a pro-Palestinian protest that was organized by Jewish Voice for Peace, which the Anti-Defamation League calls "a radical anti-Israel activist group that advocates for a complete economic, cultural and academic boycott of the state of Israel."

"[Tlaib] is an Israel hating America hating woman who does not represent anything America stands for," Greene posted on X following the protest.

Greene told Fox News she filed the resolution to censure Tlaib because "the [Democratic] Party has done nothing to hold her accountable. They've done nothing to rein her in, and no one else here has done it."

Censure is a formal statement of disapproval in the form of a resolution that is adopted by majority vote. It doesn't hold any power beyond a public condemning of a member's behavior.

"I think we will have every single Republican vote with us for this central resolution," Greene added. "It would be shocking to me if they didn't vote for it."

Florida Democrat Jared Moskowitz, who is Jewish, thinks Tlaib will be censured once newly elected House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is settled in.

"I think that censure resolution will come to the floor and I do think it's something everyone should consider," he told Fox News.

Moskowitz pointed to Tlaib's statement raising questions over the hospital bombing, saying, "This is about US intelligence"

"Look, Congress is unified in its support of Israel," Moskowitz told Fox News. "I continue to be disappointed in members of Congress who are not willing to listen to US intelligence and listen to the Biden administration, who have said Israel had nothing to do with the issue that happened in the parking lot of the hospital."

Moskowitz said any member of Congress believing information from Hamas over information provided by US intelligence is "deeply concerning."

"This is about US information. This is about not willing to trust the Biden administration and US intelligence, but instead continuing to pretend like the Ministry of Health out of Gaza is nothing other than a terrorist organization telling people what we want to hear," he said. "It is propaganda to the tenth degree and people have to stop buying it and they have to listen to the facts."

Tlaib has not commented on the censure effort.
