(WWJ) -- The FBI reportedly searched a former dump site in New Jersey last month in search of the remains of former Teamsters union president Jimmy Hoffa.
The FBI reportedly obtained a sealed search warrant to examine a site underneath the Pulaski Skyway in Jersey City, New Jersey, according to a story from Fox News.
The story says the show "Fox Nation" reported earlier this year Hoffa could be buried in a small plot of land just off the property line of a former mob-connected dump, where it is claimed Hoffa was buried. The site is commonly known as “Moscato’s Dump,” as it was previously owned by Phil “Brother” Moscato and Paul Cappola Sr. of the Genovese crime family, according to the Fox story.
“Cappola's son, Frank, told Fox Nation that his father buried Hoffa in a metal drum, digging a hole with an excavator 12 feet down, and piled more drums on top of the one containing Hoffa's body before covering up the hole with dirt and debris,” the story says.
Similar information was reported in a piece from the Detroit News in 2019, as Dan Moldea, the author of the book “The Hoffa Wars,” offered details on the story.

The Fox News story goes on to say that while the FBI would not comment on the investigation, they did “issue a statement confirming that agents examined the location.”
The reported FBI statement says "personnel from the Newark and Detroit field offices completed the survey” on Oct. 25 and 26, and that the data is “currently being analyzed.” They could not comment further, according to Fox.
Federal authorities have long believed Hoffa, the longtime president of the Teamsters union, was killed by mobsters in metro Detroit because he was trying to regain power in the Union, which he had lost while serving a prison sentence for jury tampering.
Hoffa disappeared in July 1975 from the Machus Red Fox restaurant in Bloomfield Township, where he was supposed to meet with two mobsters.
Moscato reportedly worked for Tony Provenzano, one of two people Hoffa was allegedly supposed to meet that day.
Hoffa's disappearance has become a thing of legend, with many people speculating about his final resting place, with countless searches and leads coming up empty.
Thursday's report from Fox News goes on to say Fox Nation hired a ground-penetrating radar company in March 2020 to investigate the site using ultra-high-frequency electromagnetic waves that can detect buried metal.
That dig found "multiple large pieces of round metal, half-moon shaped like the sides of barrels, buried on top of each other starting at about four feet down at the exact location Cappola pointed out and just as he had described them."
It was not clear whether the FBI will be providing any updates on the investigation.
