America is a divided nation, and this time of year there is a wedge issue that drives us even farther apart.. The Peeps Lovers and the Peeps Haters and their general failure to accept the views of the other side are a sad reminder - we are not united.
It's sad that Peeps Haters cannot just accept that some Americans love Peeps. As a Peeps Lover, I feel like I am personally judged simply because of the love of the sugary marshmallow treats. There are people close to me who are Peeps Haters and we can’t even talk about this stuff anymore - it just causes too many hurt feelings.
Peeps come in a variety of colors. Some Peeps are judged by their color, but doesn’t that reflect the diversity of America? Then again, Peeps Haters are generally equal-opportunity haters - they don’t see color. They are blinded by their hatred.
Those who get caught up in the tribalism of being a Peep Lover or a Peep Hater are helping keep America divided. Is there any end to this?
