
(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A fast food chain is testing Artificial Intelligence that can speak numerous languages.
Wendy's is one of the fast food chains that is using AI to take orders at the drive through
AI would take the order, allowing a human worker to accomplish other tasks in the restaurant.
“Using AI technologies to improve the throughput and getting orders taken faster – in this case too, I think more accurate,” RJ Hottovy of the foot traffic analysis firm Placer.ai said.
Wendy's is now conducting an even smaller test at company owned restaurants in Florida and Ohio of an AI order taker that understands Spanish.
“You know, certainly having more multi-language I think can certainly help improve the accuracy and ultimately improve the speed of the line,” Hottovy said.
Wendy's and Taco Bell are among the fast food chains testing AI order takers. McDonald's pulled the plug on its AI experiment due to problems with order accuracy.
