A Florida woman allegedly attempted to end her marriage of five-plus decades by murdering her husband over a postcard.
Authorities say Bertha Yalter, 71, was angered Sunday when her husband of 52 years received a postcard from an ex-girlfriend who he dated over 60 years ago.
As Yalter attacked her husband, she “tried to smother him with a pillow, bit and physically battered him,” according to the police report.
The victim was described by the responding officer as “extremely fragile” with “serious bruises and open lacerations on both of his arms and stomach area, as well as open bite marks that were bleeding.”
Police reportedly have a cell phone video of the attack as evidence.
Yalter is being held without bond.
