Louisiana's gubernatorial primary is three months from today, and a new survey finds voters are not happy.

Citizens for a New Louisiana released a statewide poll by Greg Rigamer and Bernie Pinsonat.

It finds that only 24% of likely voters in the state feel Louisiana is headed in the right direction.

“These results are as negative as I’ve ever seen in a survey of Louisiana voters,” said Bernie Pinsonat. “I also think that these numbers make October’s elections even more dramatic for incumbents."

The poll also found 70% of those surveyed believe that the state legislature was irresponsible in the handling of the state budget.

As for the governor's race, the survey shows Republican Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry continues to dominate the field, with 30%.

Democrat Shawn Wilson comes in second place with 20%.

All other gubernatorial candidates polled in single digits.

A news release says, "The poll was conducted by live phone operators and consisted of 600 live interviews. It has a 4.0% margin of error and 95% confidence level."
