Congressman Troy Carter cruised to reelection on Election Day, with pollster John Couvillon of JMC Analytics projecting him as the outright winner in the five-person race.
Carter had broad support among political leaders in the district, which runs from New Orleans up the River Parishes to Baton Rouge.
"The support that I've gotten means a whole lot to me and I'm very honored to receive it," Carter told WWL-TV on Tuesday.
Carter has represented the Second District since 2021, winning a special election after Cedric Richmond, the Second District's previous congressman, joined the Biden administration as a senior advisor.
