The worlds of pop and politics had a head-on collision Sunday.
The Trump campaign tried to take a jab at Joe Biden after his campaign announced that Lady Gaga would be joining the Bidens at an event in Pittsburgh on Monday.
"Nothing exposes Joe Biden’s disdain for the forgotten working men and women of Pennsylvania like campaigning with anti-fracking activist Lady Gaga," said Trump 2020 communications director Tim Murtaugh in a statement.
Fracking is the process of extracting natural gas from shale rock layers deep within the earth.
"This desperate effort to drum up enthusiasm for his lackluster candidacy is actually a sharp stick in the eye for 600,000 Pennsylvanians who work in the fracking industry," said Murtaugh, as both presidential candidates spend significant time in Pennsylvania during the final days of the campaign. "Joe Biden will always prioritize the desires of the liberal Hollywood."
The Biden Pittsburgh event on Monday will be a drive-in rally.
