The Saints loss to the Falcons Sunday was more than an emotional loss to a division rival - it was a defining moment for the Saints.
The overwhelming consensus was that from top to bottom - the Saints lack passion. Many callers today spoke about how they were at Tulane Stadium in 1967 for the Saints first game - I was among those who were there. These longtime, die-hard fans feel defeated by the Saints lack of luster. Nearly every caller pointed to the mild-tempered demeanor of Coach Dennis Allen and the disappointment that wrong decisions are not addressed.
Sports fans criticizing their favorite teams is part of sports. An NFL team is a multi-billion dollar business, and enduring criticism of management, coaches, and players is part of that business.
With a sense of dignity and a great deal of passion motivated by the apparent lack of motivation from the Saints - I expressed my views that were supported by Saints fans that lit up the talk lines throughout our show today.
