Why would President Trump’s White House Chief of Staff do an interview with a major publication? What good could come of that?
The media is buzzing with comments about the interview White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles did with Vanity Fair. In the interview, Ms. Wiles said that President Trump has the mentality of an alcoholic to which the president agreed saying that he has an addictive personality but doesn’t drink alcohol. The president seemed to suggest that he knows he would be an alcoholic if he did drink so he doesn’t drink.
Ms. Wiles said that Elon Musk is “an avowed ketamine [user].” She quickly denied that she said that but the reporter actually played audio of her saying that. She said that Donald Trump was on the Epstein plane and his name is on the manifest, but she doesn’t think they did anything awful. What does that mean? And why would Donald Trump, even if he was a playboy, be on a plane with Jeffrey Epstein? We all assume young, very young, girls were on the plane too. Where did they go? Or was it a flight to nowhere offering people an opportunity to become a member of the Mile High Club? I’m speculating, but so is everyone else.
Trump’s Chief of Staff painted a less than complimentary picture of the president as an individual who is overconfident and thinking he can do whatever he wants to do. Wiles said that the White House is not concerned about Trump’s name being in the Epstein files with MAGA supporters, many of whom probably don’t care, but the big concern is the younger voters who helped put Trump back in the White House. They are concerned about how the connection to Epstein will impact their opinion of the president. The president did not win by a majority and he only won by about 3 million votes, which means there were al ot of Americans who didn’t vote for him and there were also a lot of Americans who voted for him only because they didn’t like the option of Kamala Harris. That leaves only the core MAGA supporters that the president can count on. But why worry about this unless there are plans to change the system to allow Trump to run again in 2028. I don’t think that will happen.
Susie Wiles condemned the interview in Vanity Fair as a "disingenuously framed hit piece” but added that her quotes were accurate, but taken out of context. The president is standing by her.
There are growing signs that this era of bull*****ing and bullying the American people has run its course. These signs are showing that fatigue over the same type of rhetoric and the need for intense scrutiny over everything that is said or done by the president is wearing thin with many Americans. It is exhausting and I sense that more Americans are tuning out and moving on.
There is also concern over the president’s health and though he assures us that he is in perfect health there are indications that that may not be the case. This president says and does things and rambles in a way no rational person would, causing many questions about his mental agility.
The handling of the death of entertainment icon Rob Reiner and his wife is just the latest episode in this president’s questionable reaction to politics. We don’t know what will happen. But it is possible that the fatigue over the exhausting task of following this president is reaching a tipping point. Time will tell.
