It's a nice time of year to visit the Texas/Mexico border, and about 60 Republicans led by Speaker of the House Mike Johnson made the trip.
The border is in a crisis, as it has been a crisis during the last few presidencies, and there do not seem to have been any significant attempts to deal with the crisis. One gets the feeling that Republicans love using the border as a political tool against the Biden Administration and the Biden Administration and Democrats seem to enjoy using the Republicans' demands about the border to paint them as the hateful party.
Almost everything that happens in this election year of 2024 will be politically-motivated, including the Republicans' trip to the border. Americans are constantly reminded that politics is greater than humanity.
There will be mass media coverage of the Republicans' trip to the border and the goal is to make it appear that the Republicans are the only party interested is solving the border crisis, but let's follow the actions of the Republicans that visited the border and determine if the journey there was a sincere attempt to ease the crisis or just one of the countless publicity stunts we will witness between now and November.
The truth is that we have not seen any strong attempts, by either party, to work together on solving the crisis. It seems the border crisis is more valuable as a political tool.
The border crisis is a very serious problem and the Biden Administration has not been aggressive in attacking the problem and the Republicans are taking advantage of that and promoting a weak administration.
The crisis at the border is not a mainstay topic on our show, but we do talk about it when it is used as a political football. It is now up to Republicans to prove they truly care about solving the problem. Let's watch what they do with what they learned.
