BREAKING NEWS for those who conveniently want to believe that racism in America is only a manifestation of liberal attempts to make white people feel guilty!

Hooters restaurant in Metairie will have to pay a group of Black employees $650,000 to settle a lawsuit that accused the restaurant of subjecting them to offensive and demeaning comments in the workplace, and for only hiring back non-Black employees after the pandemic. The U.S. Equal Employment and Opportunity Commission announced the settlement, saying it was satisfied that Hooters agreed to a quick resolution. Hooters management had no comment on the settlement.

It has been 59 years since the signing of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, yet a business in the New Orleans suburb of Metairie, LA is caught blatantly discriminating against Black people because of their skin color. And the fact the Black employees were subjected to degrading verbal comments in the workplace is appalling.

What should be an insult to the Black people who go to that Hooters in Metairie is that Hooters was willing to accept their money while discriminating against the Black employees.

And isn’t it ironic that all of the patrons at Hooters are watching many sports that are totally dominated by Black athletes? Did the policies of Hooters celebrate the Black athletes that made the sports entertaining and demean the Black employees that served the patrons?

According to the EEOC - Hooters will pay the group of Black employees $650,000 and is required to “conduct training, revise policies, provide regular reports to the EEOC, and post a notice affirming its obligations under Title VII.” We should all celebrate that Hooters in Metairie was punished for being racist. It seems that it would be good PR for the management of Hooters to apologize for violating the basic rights of employees and show some sign of contrition. Or is the silence of Hooters an act of pandering to its patrons who will hypocritically cheer on the Black athletes while tacitly supporting the discrimination against Black employees?

News of this kind of discrimination is getting old and it’s time for Americans to denounce those who continue the antiquated concept of discrimination. We are better than this.
