Scoot: The story of the President who cried Greenland!

We all know the lesson behind the story of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.” In an effort to get attention, a bored young shepherd boy from a village cried, “Wolf, wolf!” expecting the village people to come to his aid and help him save his sheep. The village people came running to his aid only to find no wolf. The young boy did it again, and again, the village people rushed to help the little boy save his sheep, but there was no wolf. Then one day the little boy was out with his flock and a wolf actually approached and threatened the little boy and his sheep and he cried, “Wolf, wolf!” but no village people came to help the little boy since they had been previously tricked. The wolf got to the little boy’s sheep and in some versions of the story the wolf actually eats the little boy.

America has a president who is crying, “Greenland, Venezuela, Canada.”  At this point, it’s rather obvious that the president is doing the same thing the little boy did in the story of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.”

It’s all a joke.  Republicans Senators Thom Tillis (NC) and Lisa Murkowski (AK) are heading to Copenhagen, Denmark Friday to comfort the Prime Minister of Denmark, which controls the territory of Greenland, that President Trump has NO intention of taking control of Greenland.

As Republicans line up to paint the president’s plans to take over Greenland crazy, there is little doubt that Trump is using the Greenland talk to distract from the continuing demands to release the Epstein Files.  Again I ask:  Why would the president NOT want to release the Epstein Files?  Reluctance to release the files that we already know contain his name countless times points to the possibility that Donald Trump participated in Jeffrey Epstein’s demented world of providing underage girls for sex with older men.  What other reason would there be to not release the field?

Furthermore, the president’s idea of using our military to physically take control of Greenland, the territory of a NATO nation, is a political suicide mission.  A caller into my talk show on WWL today said that Trump wants the minerals in Greenland.  So, the United States is going to start attacking and taking over countries that have natural resources?  There’s already talk that Trump used drugs as an excuse to get control of Venezuela’s oil.  It does seem Venezuela is importing drugs into the United States and any attempt to stop that is worthwhile, but other countries do that and those countries may not have natural resources that Venezuela has so they are not worth taking over.

And then there’s Canada.  The president has been talking about making Canada the 51st and that talk has diminished in face of the total rejection from Canada that it will NEVER become the 51st state of the United States.  Not that we’re not a great country, but Canadian people are proud of who they are and proud of their country and were totally insulted by the idea that they should become part of the U.S.

The extent to which this president is distracting from attention paid to the Epstein Files can only create more suspicion about why his name appears so many times in the files.

If our president continues to use bogus stories to distract our attention - what happens when a real wolf shows up to threaten us?
