According to Donald Trump, he is going to beat Kamala Harris because she’s dumb, she’s a commie, and Trump is better looking than she is. With obvious inside information, Trump revealed that the reason TIME magazine used an artist’s sketch of Kamala is because they took a lot of photos and none of them were good enough so they had an artist sketch her.
Trump was so obsessed with promoting himself as TIME magazine’s Person of the Year that he had mock copies of TIME magazine made up with his face on the cover to hang in his golf clubs. Kamala recently appearing on the cover of TIME must have sent his innards into a gastronomic eruption. So, Trump taking a shot at Kamala and saying“I am much better looking than her” was - by MAGA logic - a natural response.
Trump’s proclamation that he is a “better-looking person” than Harris is the epitome of a mentality driven by ego. Ego destroys people - even people who have brains and talent. In New Orleans, we have witnessed our mayor, LaToya Cantrell, allow her ego to guide her into situations where she is now facing a federal investigation.
Mayor Cantrell has been harder to find than a cool day in New Orleans after her companion, boyfriend, bootyguard NOPD Officer Jeffrey Vappie was indicted by a federal grand jury this summer. From the ego-driven arrogance of insisting that she had the right to make taxpayers of a city that is broke pay for her first-class airline tickets to exotic destinations overseas, to her blatant disregard for rules by spending private time with her man in a city-owned apartment during and after working hours, to sipping wine with him in full public view when time sheets indicated that he was on the clock as an NOPD officer assigned to protect her, LaToya Cantrell appears to have allowed her ego to dictate her behavior. Cantrell was forced to repay the taxpayers when she was proven wrong in her assumption that she had the right to fly first-class. Cantrell was forced out of the city-owned apartment she was using as her nest for private time with her security guard and the City Council even changed to rules that no longer allowed mayors to use the apartment for visiting dignitaries.
In New Orleans, we have seen first-hand what happens when ego drives decisions made by individuals. In the face of strong Trump supporters like Sen. Lindsey Graham and former top advisor Kellyanne Conway pleading with Trump to stop the name-calling and the questions about race - Trump continues with the ego-driven bully mentality. Yet, many of his supporters are applauding Trump’s strategy and are participating in it themselves on social media.
Donald Trump has made it obvious that he is obsessed with his looks and everything he does, but with polls shifting, Trump is being warned by Republicans that if he doesn’t stop doing what he’s doing he will lose to Kamala Harris. Trump seems to have a problem with women and any power they hold and losing the presidency to a woman is something that may be driving his maniacal behavior.
I believe if Graham and Conway said, “Donald, you have to go after Kamala with cheap shots about her being dumb and you being better looking. That’s the way to win the election,” I believe that in the interest of feeding his ego Trump would ignore them and actually talk more about policy!
